“In a difficult time for Greek-Turkish relations, Greece has to realize the limits of what the European Union can and cannot do. The statements made by Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, on the opening of the negotiations between Athens and Ankara should be seen under this light. The Turkish government has already welcomed this particular suggestion. Greece can rely on the European Union’s support as long as the country’s foreign policy is based on realism and not only trying to please its own national audience,” advises Dr. George Tzogopoulos in his article for newspaper “TA NEA”.
