Theodoros Tsakiris, Research Fellow at ELIAMEP and Assistant Professor at the University of Nicosia, specializing on the geopolitics and economics of hydrocarbons, wrote an article for “ETHNOS” newspaper, titled “The danger of a new impasse”.
According to Dr. Tsakiris: “About six weeks after May 4th, when the drilling rig “Fatih” first appeared in the indefinite EEZ of the Republic of Cyprus, comes the hour of truth. The aim is not simply not to repeat “Fatih’s” drilling, but – most importantly – to avoid a Turkish drilling within the bounded internationally recognized EEZ of Nicosia, even in fragments that have been licensed in international oil companies”.
