“Turkey continues to pursue a strategy of tension against Greece and will continue to do so – especially after the signing of the agreement between Greece and Egypt – in order to test the Greek reaction, while making sure not to create a hot incident. A series of changes at both systemic and regional levels mean that the United States can no longer play the role it once did, as the one phone call Greece would make if the crisis escalated. The role of the EU is also limited in terms of crisis management but potentially useful in terms of wider arrangements in the region after the de-escalation of this current crisis,” said Panayotis Tsakonas in an interview with SKAI TV and journalists Apostolos Maggiriadis and Stavros Ioannidis.
