The duration of the crisis, the stay-at-home order, is the critical variable that will determine whether the damage done to the economy will be permanent, said George Pagoulatos, Director General of ELIAMEP, in an interview with Euronews. Pagoulatos explains that one positive aspect is that the crisis is symmetrical, global and pan-European. That means that Greece will not be alone in dealing with its more permanent effects, but can justifiably expect common European policies to address the severe damage to the economy, as inflicted by the coronavirus.
