Professor Panayotis Tsakonas, head of the ELIAMEP Security and Turkey Program, points out in his article in the newspaper TA NEA ,that what dictates developments in our relations with Turkey is – instead of restoring “an autistic”political stagnation proclaimed by some nostalgists ousted within the ruling party- adopting a strategy of initiatives by making the most of the country’s comparative advantages over Turkey and transferring the game properties for us in a privileged field of international law. The reluctance to take the initiative, the professor points out, in our relationship with an increasingly difficult neighbor, either as a conscious choice or as an alibi, is not bravery but cowardice. “It is not only us who -“successfully or unsuccessfully read our neighbors’ behavior towards us, but it is them as well who read ours”, writes Mr Tsakonas.
