In his article for the newspaper TA NEA, Dr. George N. Tzogopoulos analyzes how the energy map is being reshaped in the age of the pandemic. Tzogopoulos points out that the question being asked in the era of Covid-19 is whether it is now necessary to adjust energy priorities and focus on further investments in renewable energy sources. He emphasizes how positive it is that Greece is one of the EU member states that have embraced the European Green Agreement from its very beginning. Experts estimate that, thanks to COVID-19, several countries will be more likely to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and thus reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Ultimately, writes Dr. Tzogopoulos, investments in green energy projects, for example in the context of the Greek-German cooperation or the New Silk Road, can support economies that need targeted reinforcement to overcome the recession.
