Ioannis Armakolas talks to ethnos.gr about the new tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, explaining in detail the background to this new version of the “war of signs”.

Although he does not rule out the possibility of a similar crisis recurring soon, he does not believe it would lead to extreme violence or a Serbian military intervention in Kosovo similar to Russia’s in Ukraine.

He also analyses the impasse created by the lack of a decisive effort on the part of the EU and the West to resolve outstanding issues in the Balkans, as well as the absence of a strategy aimed at fully integrating those nations into Western institutions. He ends by explaining why Greece’s Balkan policy needs to be redesigned.
