Professor Loukas Tsoukalis, President of ELIAMEP, is among the 50 signatories of an appeal to European leaders for compromise and flexibility in the case of Greece. The signatories believe that a Greek exit from the eurozone would be an economic and political catastrophe and therefore urge policymakers to give the country a way to return to sustainable growth within the eurosystem. They, inter alia, suggest cuts in interest rates Greeceis paying to its European partners and propose their possible linkage to the progress of the country on clearly defined reforms. In this way, they explain, Greek people will be able to regain hopes by realising their own responsibility to deliver. You can find more information on the appeal to European leaders here.
