Τhe ‘Ariane Condellis’ European Programme of the Hellenic Foundation For European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) organized an event on the topic of “EU in the world: The role of the European Cultural Diplomacy” on Wednesday 19 April 17:00-19:00, in Athens.The event was implemented in the framework of the Programme EUact2: “Towards Democratic and Inclusive Europe: EP Elections and Active Citizens Participation and Contribution”,

The European Union is a global power. Cultural diplomacy, as a form of public diplomacy, complements other traditional means of strengthening the EU international role, economic and trade relations.  It allows the EU to build strong relationships with other countries and regions, promoting its values and interests.

The discussion focused on the role of cultural diplomacy in the EU’s foreign policy. How important is cultural diplomacy for the EU and how is the EU perceived by the international community when doing so? What are the challenges and opportunities therein?
