In the framework of its European Seminars, ELIAMEP organized an international high-level conference entitled: “The Delphic Oracle on Europe: Politics and Policies“. The Conference took place in the context of a global economic slowdown and in the aftermath of the European elections 2009. It was a unique opportunity for leading academics, practitioners, think tankers and journalists to share their perspectives on the current situation in the European Union.

The seminar goals were as follows: a) to bring together a group of experts from all over Europe to present the latest developments in the EU, b) to facilitate rigorous discussions on the following issues: democracy issues in the EU, economic and social reforms at the European level, effectiveness of EU external action, environmental policy convergence in the EU and c) to share new ideas and thinking on policy approaches.
