ELIAMEP participated in the “First regional dialogue between SEE2030 Monitoring Committee and SEE Think-tanks” in Thessaloniki on Wednesday June 8, which was organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC). ELIAMEP’s Research Associate Cheryl Novak moderated the panel “Sustainable Development related challenges of South Eastern Europe” with input by ELIAMEP’s Research Associate and FOGGS Executice Director, Dr. Georgios Kostakos.

The objective of the “First regional dialogue between SEE2030 Monitoring Committee and SEE Think-tanks” was to connect representatives of the 13 economies of SEE with thinktanks from the region to discuss key issues related to the SEE2030 Strategy, including how governments and thinktanks can work more closely together to improve implementation. The SEE2030 Strategy is a regional strategy, constructed upon three main pillars: Prosperity; People; Peace and Partnerships. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030, the Strategy aims to provide a comprehensive and sustainable development policy context for regional cooperation along with the EU accession-driven strategies and interventions. For the period July 2021-July 2022 Athens holds the Chairmanship-in-Office of the SEECP, and the SEECP consists of 13 participants from the SEE region, which are also participants in the RCC Board.

The “First regional dialogue between SEE2030 Monitoring Committee and SEE Think-tanks” follows the success of the “South East Europe (SEE) 2030 Strategy Regional Stakeholders Seminars”, which was co-organized by ELIAMEP in cooperation with the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) and the RCC, in 2021.
