I. Armakolas spoke in Brussels about the relations between Greece and North Macedonia after the Prespa Agreement

Ioannis Armakolas, Assistant Professor at the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia and Head of the South-East Europe Programme – ELIAMEP, participated in an event organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung EU Office in Brussels regarding the relations between Greece and North Macedonia in the aftermath of the Prespa Agreement.

During the discussion, answers were given on how the name deal was reached, which were the dynamics that played part in favor of it and what can be learned from the achievement of the agreement altogether. Moreover, it was discussed whether the lessons learned could be useful for other bilateral matters as well.

Finally, the participants discussed about the proximity that the two societies can reach in time, how the issue of populism can be addressed and when we can expect a full implementation of the Prespa Agreement.
