The conflicts in the Caucasus have already delayed the exploitation of the existing wealth to the detriment of all actors involved. Moreover, the independence and prosperity of the new states have been slowed when the oil revenues could contribute admiringly to the development of democratic institutions and the increase of the standard of living for all countries involved. If compromises are not struck, the states of the Caucasus are in danger of being swallowed up by conflicts that will devastate the entire region.
