The purpose of this paper is firstly to examine the events and decisions that led to the proclamation of the Truman doctrine in March 1947 and secondly to assess the latter’s impact on the Greek state during the Greek civil war. It is not intended as an exhaustive analysis but rather as a comprehensive overview.
