summer-schoolThe Center for International and European Studies (CIES) at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, the Department of Mediterranean Studies at University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the Center for Global Politics at Freie Universität Berlin will organise a summer school in Turkey on: ‘Internal and External Uncertainties: Turkey between the EU and its Exceptionalism’. The summer school will take place in Istanbul from 30 May until 10 June 2014.

Curriculum

The modules offered during this intensive short-term program will provide students with an insight into different perspectives on the current internal and external uncertainties in the Middle East and the Mediterranean especially with regard to Turkey. The exchange of views between German, Greek, Turkish and other academics and students will also focus on the EU’s relations to the Mediterranean. By the end of the program students will know more about Turkey’s political context and its correlation with current internal and external developments.

Expenditures

Due to generous funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), there are no tuition fees. Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and living expenses. Travel stipends are available to students from Turkey (living in Turkey, outside Istanbul) and Greece (living in Greece).
