The German Academic Exchange Service DAAD in Athens and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) jointly organized a workshop on:«Citizens in Protest – Europe in Crisis» on Friday 30 November 2012, at the Goethe Institute in Athens (14-16, Omirou str.). The DAAD-ELIAMEP workshop offerd a venue for the economic, political and social dimensions of the Greek crisis. The first panel discussed the effects of austerity policies on citizen welfare and the political feasibility of ongoing or planned economic reforms. The second panel analyzed the consequences of citizen protests on EU governance and its legitimacy. Experts from Greece and Germany provided their insights on a crisis that has posed the most severe challenges to the European economy and identity since 1945.Click here for the workshop agenda.
