Elena Lazarou  is Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Center of International Relations (CRI/CPDOC) of the Fundaçao Getulio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro, where she is also responsible for research and teaching in the area of European Studies. Her interests include European Integration, European Foreign Policy, Multilateralism and Regional Integration. She also has a keen interest in the EU`s relations with Turkey and Brazil. Her current research focuses on the transformation of Europe beyond the crisis, and on Brazil`s strategic partnerships with the EU and with Turkey. She holds a PhD in International Studies (2008) and an MPhil in European Studies (2004) from the University of Cambridge. Previously she has been a Research Associate at the Center for International Policy Research (CIPR), University of Sheffield (2007-2008); Visiting Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory, London School of Economics and Political Science (2009); and Post-doctoral Research Associate, University of Cambridge (2009-2010).
