The National Centre for Social Research, the Economic and Social Committee of Greece, KEK INE / GSEE and NGO ‘Efxini Poli’ conducted a workshop on “Combating discrimination in Greece: Policies and the Role of Civil Society” on Thursday, November 24, 2011 & Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Cultural Center of Athens, Auditorium ‘Antonis Tritsis’, 50 Akadimias blvd., Athens.

24 November

World Poster Exhibition on Human Rights ‘Change the World! 50 years posters for Amnesty International’ opened Thursday, November 24 at 20.30 in Tehnopolis (Piraeus 100, Gazi). The exhibition was organised by the Greek branch of Amnesty International on the occasion of celebrating 50 years since the founding of the organisation. The visitors had the opportunity to see fifty posters from around the world, from Greece to the USA and from France to Japan, but also to took part themselves in what happens when art meets activism for Human Rights.

The Greek Council for Refugees with the support of the European Parliament Office in Athens, organised a discussion on the: ‘The rights of the Refugees in a Period of Crisis’. 17.00 – 19.00 at the offices of the European Parliament, blvd. Amalia 8, Syntagma Square

25-26 November

The General Secretariat of Population and Social Cohesion of the Ministry of Interior and the Responsible Authority of the Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals organised the annual event to present the results of actions implemented under the Annual Programme (AP) 2009 and a public consultation for the proposed actions for the Annual Programme 2012.

25-28 November

On the occasion of World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November, the General Secretariat for Gender Equality and the Greek Film Archive, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy, organised a 4-day panorama of films called 1st Panorama of films about the Violence against Women (25-28 November). The tribute is part of the public awareness rising campaign for the fight against violence on women, designed by the General Secretariat for Gender Equality.
